History

Beginnings

The idea to establish a company of such a profile of business was born in 1999.

It was established by students of Academy of Economics in Wrocław at that time (graduates of HR Management specialisation). In a short period of time, the company, thanks to the engagement of its staff, achieved a strong support at the market of HT companies and trust among its customers.

1999

  • Work Service launched.

 

 

2000

 

  • Praktiker Polska Sp. z o.o., first major retail account, 50 workers in 5 stores.
  • Opening of regional offices in Poland’s major cities.

 

2001 

  • Development and Implementation of strategy to successfully enter the automotive sector.
  • Based upon success in supplying temps for hypermarkets, company launched new outsourcing service Merchandising and Promotions.
  • Awards and distinctions won:
    • “Leader of Entrepreneurship” from the Small and Medium Enterprises Foundation, award presented by the Premier of Poland, the honorable Leszek Miller.

 

2002

  •  Telecommunications and manufacturing giants join Poland’s largest retailers on client roster, including Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. (France Télécom S.A.) and Volkswagen Poznań.
  • ISO 9001 Certification secured for recruitment and merchandising services.

 

2003

  • Expanded product range by launching specialized services for personnel consulting.
  • Earned Certification for Temporary Employment Agency and Personnel Consultancy.
  •  Implementation of software platform “TETA personnel staff”, exceptionally scalable to process an exponentially growing number of employees.
  •  Awards and distinctions won:
    •  “Polish Success 2002”,
    •  Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year 2003” New Business category,
    •  Laureate of the 13th edition of "Poland Now" competition in HR category,
    •  Title of “Market Leader 2003” in personnel consulting services category.
     

 

2004

  • Work Service transformed from Limited Liability to Joint Stock Company.
  • Payroll and HR Management outsourcing added to service portfolio.
  • Work Service expands to Russia and the Czech Republic.
  •  Awards and distinctions won:
    Businessman Magazine denotes Work Service as “Brand of the future 2004”,
    “Leader of the Market” in personnel leasing,
    “Gazelle Business”.
    Invited to join the elite Business Centre Club and the Confederation of Polish Employers. 

 

 

2005

  •  Continuous enhancement of product offer with Logistics and Warehousing outsourcing services.
  •  Work Service enters the competitive German market.
  •  Founding member of Polish Association of Employment Agencies (SAZ), established to promote and enforce the ethics of good practice throughout the industry.
  •  Investment in Balanced Scorecard (BSC), strategic performance management tools and CRM program to manage complex customer relationships across various industries and locations.
  • Awards and distinctions won:
    2nd “Gazelle Business” award for most dynamically growing business as well as the “European Medal 2005” conferred by the Business Centre Club that recognizes success in entering other European markets. 

 

2006

  • Work Service establishes offices in Slovakia.
  •  Initiated program to assist physically challenged workers secure meaningful employment.
  •  Awards and distinctions won:
    The Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski Association honored Work Service with a statuette during the 2nd edition of “Leaders of Consultancy 2005” competition. Work Service won first prize in the highly competitive Personnel Consultancy category.

 

2007

  • Expansion to Ukraine
  •  Purchase of controlling shares in Exact System, leading outsourcing partner for executing exacting quality control procedures in Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Russia and the Czech Republic.
  •  Adoption of a new business model based on three market sectors: specialized outsourcing services, personal counseling and supplying workers.
  •  Awards and distinctions won:
    First ranking in “Polityka” weekly, ranking Work Service at position 425 of Poland’s top 500 largest companies,
    “Leader of Consultancy 2006” in the Personnel Consultancy category award.

 

2008

  •  Purchased 100% of shares of Proservice in Russia, company ranks among the leading providers in the outsourcing of logistics and merchandising / promotional services.
  •  A national campaign launched promoting outsourcing under the slogan of “Poland’s Largest Database”.
  •  Awards and distinctions won:
    Took 443 place in “Polityka’s” ranking,
    “Leader of Consultancy 2007” in the Personnel Consultancy category award.

 

2009

  •  Purchase of Sellpro to strengthen leading position in merchandizing and promotional outsourcing services.
  • Introduced dedicated solutions for the financial and medical sectors.
  • Successful company restructuring to respond to global economic situation effecting client base.
  • Awards and distinctions won:
    First position secured in the rankings for temporary work agencies in the Warsaw Business Journal’s definitive “Book of Lists” of Poland’s largest companies ranked in various sectors,
    Took 339 place in “Polityka’s” ranking,
    Secured the position of 416 in “Rzeczpospolita’s” list of “Top 500” companies in Central and Eastern Europe,
    Polish professionals using HR agency services voted company as number one in the personnel consultancy category in “Laur Konsumenta", Poland’s Consumer Choice Awards.

 

2010

  • Purchase of specialist outsourcing company ZAK, renamed Medi Staff, creating subsidiary to expand market presence in the growing medical and facility management sector.
  • Awards and distinctions won:
    First place in the rankings published by Gazeta Bankowa for the best HR company for the banking sector,
    Honorable mention in service category of the “Hit of the Year’ competition organised by Gazeta Bankowa, Poland’s leading financial monthly,
    Defended first place position in the Warsaw Business Journal’s “Book of List” for Polish HR agencies,
    Company advanced 6 places to take position 410 on “Rzeczpospolita’s” annual “Top 500” list.

 

2011

  • Established WS Energy to provide dedicated solutions for the mining and energy sector.
  •  Company submits prospectus to Polish Financial Supervisory Authority which is approved on 17th November. And it’s next step to have its shares traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Raised funds to continue the consolidation of Poland’s highly fragmented HR market.
  • Awards and distinctions won:
    Businessman.pl magazine presented company with the “Master of Business” award in the category of Law, Consulting and HR in the second edition of the prestigious competition.
